銆�銆�IndustriALL Global Union in Solidarity with the Workers at Micron Semiconductor Italia

銆�銆�Dear Colleagues,

銆�銆�I am writing to you on behalf of IndustriALL Global Union, which represents 50 million workers in the mining, energy and manufacturing sectors in 140 countries, promoting global solidarity and taking up the fight for better working conditions and trade union rights around the world, to express our full support of the struggle by the unions at manufacturing and research sites of Micron Semiconductor Italia to safeguard employment and preserve the industrial role of Micron Italia.

銆�銆�We deplore the company’s intransigent stance in implementing a restructuring plan, without any consultation with the unions, which involves redundancies. In addition, we find it unacceptable that the company is not even considering an alternative to the restructuring plan.

銆�銆�We fully support your actions against Micron Semiconductor Italia to find a fair and just solution for the workers through negotiations, which should also involve the government agencies and the parent company–Micron Italia is part of Micron Technology, Inc., which is based in the USA.

銆�銆�Furthermore, we strongly believe that the company has a fundamental responsibility to protect the livelihoods of the Micron workers in Italy and their families in the community. It is imperative that the company submit immediately a new plan to maintain the employment level and to increase investments in the electronics industry in Italy.

銆�銆�We stand firm in solidarity with you at Micron Semiconductor Italia in your fight to overturn the company’s unilateral decision to initiate the procedure to dismiss workers, and its refusal to meet with union representatives.
